The Legacy of Blacklord Nyte: A Love Story Across Generations

Welcome to
Applegate Arabians NW, where heritage lives on and hearts run deep. We’re a small but passionate team consisting of MelissaKristy, Ladora, and Jasmine, whom were brought together by one extraordinary Arabian stallion named Blacklord Nyte (Knight).

Nyte’s story begins decades ago with Melissa’s mother who a devoted lover of the Arabian breed, who dreamed of producing a foal that would carry forward the rare and regal bloodlines of Blacklord Arabi and F.B. Raven. That dream became reality in 1996, when Nyte was born a stallion blessed with the fire, intelligence, and heritage of both Babson Egyptian and Al Khamsa lineage.

Nyte’s sire, Blacklord Arabi, was a stallion of rare quality. More than just a beautiful horse, Arabi was the embodiment of the classic Arabian ideal. He was known for a refined, dished head, expressive eyes, an arched neck, and floating, effortless movement. But it was his mind that truly stood out. Arabi was known for his calm, intelligent temperament and willing nature. These traits he passed on to Nyte in full. His bloodlines trace deep into authentic desert ancestry through Al Khamsa and Babson lines. The horses were bred for purity, endurance, and soul. Arabi didn’t just carry history he was history. And now, with so few of his descendants remaining, Nyte is believed to be the last living U.S. son of Blacklord Arabi.

When Melissa’s mother passed away, she left more than Nyte behind. She passed on her love, her vision, and her fierce devotion to this breed, and Melissa took up that mantle with grace. Today, Nyte is 29 years old and still carries himself with the same pride and presence that marked his lineage.

Our mission is to preserve and continue these precious Al Khamsa and Babson bloodlines, which are rapidly disappearing in the modern Arabian world. We're raising funds to give Nyte the chance to continue his line through AI trainingspecialized care, and responsible breeding. This will ensure that his rare genetics, and the legacy of Blacklord Arabi, don’t vanish with him.

But this isn’t something we can do alone. If you’re a breeder, historian, vet, Arabian enthusiast, or just someone who simply understands the value of saving living heritage, we want to connect with you. We're looking for resources, suggestions, partnerships, and support to help us keep this story alive.

P.S. here’s a little fun fact: the “Applegate” name isn’t just for show. Melissa is a direct descendant of Jesse Applegate, the Oregon Trail pioneer and co-founder of the historic Applegate Trail. Like him, we’re blazing our own path just this time, in the name of equine heritage!
